Our name, Superimpose, reflects how we design: by layering new ideas onto existing structures, communities, and histories. We work with contextual awareness and responsibility, always aiming to improve, protect, and sustain both natural and built environments. Transformation and reuse are central to our practice, as we believe that designing for the future begins with respecting what already exists.

Our name also reflects who we are. Founded in 2015 by three partners with different backgrounds, Superimpose operates as a collective of designers from diverse cultural and professional origins. We embrace the idea of layering not only in our designs but also in the way we work. Different voices, disciplines, and experiences overlap and strengthen one another. This mindset extends beyond our studio walls and shapes how we collaborate with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, ensuring that every project benefits from a rich synthesis of perspectives and results in a clear and cohesive vision.

Our completed work includes projects such as the Eurostar UK Terminal in Amsterdam, Interior transformation of the CiTG Faculty at Delft University of Technology, Vanke Sky City in Hangzhou, Micr-O, The Re-Veil, Y-Loft City, and the Well Living Lab in Beijing. Before establishing Superimpose, our partners gained experience at internationally recognized firms including Foster + Partners, and Mei Architects, contributing to several award-winning, globally renowned projects such as the Bloomberg and Amazon Headquarters in London.

Superimpose has received multiple international awards, including the Iconic Awards, the American Architecture Prize, and the DFA Design for Asia Awards, and was shortlisted as Dezeen Emerging Architect of the Year as well as by AD100 YOUNG among the top one hundred young architecture firms. Our work has been featured in publications such as Frame, Dezeen, ArchDaily, Architectural Digest, and Domus, and has been presented at institutions including Tsinghua University, Beijing Design Week, and the Dutch Embassy network worldwide.
