The Archway

The Archway

From time to time, Superimpose finds its inspiration for interior design projects right at the construction site of the project. Interesting spatial features or obstructions provided by the site’s architecture set in motion a certain design direction. Superimpose was pleasantly surprised when visiting a project construction site when was commissioned to design the public functions of a serviced apartment tower in Hangzhou. The project includes the design of the lobby, bar, restaurant, meeting spaces and entertainment area.

Dramatic structural elements in a double-height lobby space provide certain grandeur to the space even without the design in place. In the interior design, Superimpose emphasized this feature by creating a rhythm of high arches throughout the space. Plan-wise, the arches separate the required programmatic elements almost effortless.

When entering the lobby, a semi-circular shaped reception desk receives the guests. 24h check-in booths and a casual waiting space are situated on the right-hand side when entering. Turning left the guest will arrive in a space, which is designed to resemble a living room. From there the guest can choose to either go to the bar and restaurant or to the lift lobby.

The bar and restaurant follow the design language used in the lobby. At a split-level second floor above the restaurant and bar there are meeting rooms, a game room, and public kitchen. The entire public space is designed with a sophisticated and minimalistic use of materials and with soft and warm color-tones.
